NYCIT’s sister organization, New York Center for Child Development (NYCCD), and the Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC), is pleased to announce their collaboration with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Bureau of Children, Youth and Families, funded by ThriveNYC, on the creation of a free online training series, Foundations of Social-Emotional Development in Infants and Toddlers, recently released by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Division of Family and Child Health, Bureau of Early Intervention (NYC BEI).

This professional development series is intended to:

  • Support all Early Intervention (EI)
professionals in understanding the significance of addressing social-emotional
    development,
  • Provide EI professionals with
foundational knowledge of social-emotional development that is aligned with the
New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Early Intervention (SDOH BEI)
guidance document, Meeting the Social-Emotional Development Needs of
Infants and Toddlers: Guidance for Early Intervention and Other Early Childhood
    Professionals,
     and
  • Share information with EI
professionals that can be used to inform evaluations and
interventions (from EI and from community/health resources) to ensure that
children in the Early Intervention Program and their families receive the
    supports they need.

The Foundations of Social-Emotional Development in Infants and Toddlers online training consists of three (3) modules. The series was created in collaboration with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Bureau of Children, Youth and Families, and funded by ThriveNYC. The training content was developed by Gilbert Foley, Ed. D, IMH-E ® and Susan Chinitz, Psy.D. on behalf of the New York Center for Child Development (NYCCD) and the Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC).

As with all NYC BEI training opportunities, this training
includes continuing education units (CEUs) for seven (7) contact hours.
The contact hours can be used to fulfill the annual training requirements of the
SDOH BEI Provider Agreement and to fulfill professional license CEU
requirements. The NYC BEI is an approved provider of CEUs for:

  • Occupational Therapy/Occupational
    Therapy Assistant (OT/OTA)
  • Physical Therapy/Physical Therapy
    Assistant (PT/PTA)
  • Social Work (LMSW/LCSW)
